Youth Empowerment System (YES) Facility

The YES Facility is a collaboration project by the Center for Family Services to provide locally based, culturally sensitive, family focused shelter care and residency to youth. The services include a full therapy program to youth and their families in individualized or in group settings. Services are provided to youth between the ages of 11-17 who are in need of shelter services, at imminent risk of out- of- home placement or have used all other alternatives.

The CCYD is responsible for providing educational services to the youth at the shelter care and residential facility. Classes are small and instruction is provided in small groups and individualized. The New Jersey Core Content Standards and a youth’s Individualized Educational Plan (IEP) are used to guide the educational services. The CCYD provides quality, varied educational services including testing, remedial instruction, and skill development.

Students are able to transition back to their home school upon retuning home. Educational classes are 5-days per week and all staff are certified by the State Department of Education. The CCYD’s educational staff work closely with the other staff of the Center for Family Services to ensure a youth’s education and emotional needs are met
